Anthony B. Dichiara is a Weyerhaeuser-Endowed assistant professor in the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences’ Bioresource Science and Engineering program. His research encompasses every aspect of materials design and engineering, from the synthesis of innovative bio-sourced nanoparticles using fundamental science to their testing in relevant models simulating real world applications, and their assembly into advanced composites, in the laboratory and in commercial, large-scale facilities, with emphasis on sustainability. His research has led to a number of significant advances in the field of multifunctional nanocomposites with exceptional performance in catalytic, environmental and electronics applications, which has inspired a startup company. The mission of his commercialization efforts relates to circularity and sustainability to enable the future bioeconomy and diversify the forest industry beyond typical pulp and paper products.
